MGCS News: Recycling Basics for the Home
Home recycling requires a trivial amount of time, yet offers substantial benefit to the homeowner as well as the environment.
According to the EPA, the national recycling rate is just 30%. Increasing materials recycling in the US to 60% could save the equivalent of 315 million barrels of oil per year. Recycling is a great way individuals can make a difference, both locally and globally. Items you can start recycling in your home are;
- Paper & Cardboard
- Plastics
- Glass
- Aluminum, Steel & Copper
- Computers, printers, etc.
- Cell Phones
- Batteries
Millennium Giving Back
Each year Millennium chooses a service project to give back to the community. For 2010, Millennium would like to thank Karen Stepp and the rest of the staff at the Castaic, CA Animal Shelter for giving us the opportunity to serve and give back to the community.
The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control is one of the largest and most progressive animal control agencies in the United States. The six animal shelters serve all unincorporated County areas and 50 contract cities. Covering more than 3,200 square miles of cities, deserts, beaches, and mountains; from the Antelope Valley in the north to the Palos Verdes Peninsula in the south; as far east as the border of San Bernardino County and west all the way to Thousand Oaks. They provide animal control and rescue services 24 hours a day, seven days a week in all service area

Cleaning tip of the month
Game, Set, Match
With Wimbledon in full swing, here is a cleaning tip using tennis balls (I prefer the World Cup, but could not figure out a cleaning tip using a soccer ball).
Do you have scuffs on your flooring that you need to get rid of? I have found that a tennis ball on the end of a pole is great for getting rid of scuff marks off hard flooring. plus it won’t harm the finish.
